The first Madeleine movie!

November 16th, 2006

Beth and I haven’t shot very much video of Madeleine, mostly because prior to a few weeks ago she just laid on her back and rolled from side to side. But now she’s mobile, so I picked up the camera this morning and filmed this.

You need Quicktime to view this. If you don’t have it, download the plugin here.

New Madeleine Pics Are Up, Update

November 14th, 2006

New photos on the Photos page!

Madeleine now has five teeth and she knows how to use them. She’s eating oatmeal, avocados, peas, bananas, and leaves from our house plant (the last part was unintentional). She’s also managed to snack on cat food. We fed her sweet potatoes as well, which she liked, but she had a reaction to them, so we won’t be going back there for a while.

In other developmental news, Madeleine has begun to clap, and she says “Da Da” when I come home. She’s also pulling herself up in the crib. She seems to enjoy being spun around, tossed, and swung in the air. Maybe she’ll be a pilot or a trapeze artist.

We’re looking forward to flying to ‘Bama for Thanksgiving to see the family. Everyone can play with Madeleine, I can eat stuffing, and Beth can eat my grandmother’s sweet potatoes.

Play This If You Hate Music:
The Decemberists

Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)

by: The Decemberists
from the album: The Crane Wife

Exit Petra Haden, enter Lisa Molinaro of the experimental Portland band, talkdemonic as the latest touring member of the Decemberists. Like the excellent duets of the past with Colin Meloy and Haden, this duet from The Crane Wife is perhaps the best moment on the album. Typical Meloy songwriting, it’s the story of two lovers during the Civil War; a dead soldier buried after the Battle of Manassas, and his pregnant sweetheart left behind.
