“Freedom of the press is limited
to those that own one.”
March 29th, 2007
Sorry for the public service announcement. I’m ticked off today. The quote in the title is from former New Yorker media critic A.J. Liebling, and is stunning in its relevance to net neutrality and democracy today. The internet allows anyone to own their own “press,” so to speak, creating a dialogue never before heard in the world. If we are to truly protect the 1st Amendment, we must protect the right of citizens to speak, unfettered and uncensored over the internet. It’s all at risk.
